Anneal and Pickle Line 2 (AP2) process line upgrade.
the solution
The project required the use of a variable speed 16 Section masterdrive Dual AFE AC drive system for a continuous annealing and pickle Line 2 (AP2) enhancement. Siemens S7 PLC’s and WinCC SCADA with profibus communications were utilised for the overall control.
The enhancement project entailed the addition of a new skin pass mill, tension leveller, additional exit looper, edge trimmer, associated tensioning bridles, transport rolls, and a new drive and control system.
A major consideration for the customer was the instability of the electricity supply. Power dips were frequently experienced and the selection of an active front end regenerative rectifier unit with a common DC bus enabled these disruptions to be significantly reduced.
