The design, supply and installation for the electrical control system for the Pont-Y-Werin Bascule Bridge, linking Penarth to Cardiff Bay.
the solution
IAC supplied the bascule bridge control system which includes a Siemens S7 PLC, which was being remotely controlled via a SIL 2 dual wireless communication, cited 1.4 km from the bridge at Cardiff Barrage. The CCTV and audio systems supplied by IAC Security also communicated on the same wireless network. IAC also supplied a custom MCC and Win CC HMI, which controlled the main hydraulics and safety features for the bridge functionality.
